My new goodies!

I got some new goodies yesterday. I had so- much fun.
First I went to Kinkos to pick up my design cards for the auction for the Boys & Girl's club and delivered those to LaCosta. Then I went to the GemFaire in San Diego. It was so much fun!
Here are some of my new finds. Watch how they are designed into new jewelry pieces for
Kai Creations.

The weekend is HERE!!
What a crazy week. I've been so busy at work lately I can barely cope... okay so that's an exaggeration. But still it's been busy. I've been training someone in our Mission Valley office, it's a 1.5hour commute each way w/ traffic so that in itself is tiring.

Last weekend I learned about the Boys and Girl's club is hosting a Dinner Auction at the
LaCosta Resort and Spa and *click here*. I've donated several new pieces for the benefit...

San Juan Island Treasure bracelet & earrings
What's Black & White & Red All Over? - bracelet
In The Deep - Bracelet & Earrings
Stunning Sparkles - Bracelet & Earrings.

I'm always behind great causes and the Boy's and Girl's club is one I like to support. Not only that but the LaCosta Resort and Spa is just GORGEOUS. And at $200 a head it is expected to be GREAT!

Tomorrow I'm going to go to the Scottish Rite Center and go on a shopping spree! WHOOO HOO! I have a few things I need to get for custom orders and things I'd just simply ....like to get :)
Saturday night... will be attending the soiree' at the LaCosta Resort and Spa and then onto Sunday which always seems to arrive too soon.

PJ and Makena will likely spend the day at the beach or park playing and probably go to McD's or out to eat. He always is 'the cool parent' and takes her to those places more than I do. I love to take her to those places too but usually find I need to cook a good meal more often. Plus w/ PJ being gone a lot he gets those opportunities when he is home. And hey... who can complain when I can get some time to myself on occasion right? ;)

Tuesday- only 3 more days till the weekend!
Today is Tuesday and it's finally 'Mommy time'. Makena didn't sleep at naptime today at preschool. So we were nearly in melt down as 8pm rolled around. In fact she fell asleep for 2-5 minutes in the car on the way home at the very end of our car ride and she was snoring when we pulled up! I was like... "Oh no you don't. You're not going to sleep right now" (looking at the clock it's 6:40, only an hour and 20 minutes and counting till bedtime. She was so delirious when she went down it was easier than I thought even though putting her in bed was a bit of a challenge. Such is life with a 4yr old. :)

PJ is in Dallas this week - with what else? But work. He's there learning about Combat Related stress in a Leadership Course for the USMC.

I decided to have a FREE Earring sale on all jewelry. 3 Days only. Spend $25 or more and receive a FREE pair of custom earrings. I'll make them to coordinate with something you buy.
I LOVE giving things away to customers, because I appreciate the opportunity to sell the things that I love to make.

Work (my regular job) is doing good. I'm super busy and that's about it.

It's Friday It's Friday HOORAY!!! HOORAY!!!

Well, I must say I'm REALLY- glad it's Friday! So much has been going on in my personal and professional life it's all been overwhelming and the house... well it's gone by the wayside. I intended to take all of today off since our company offers a 'Birthday' day off once a year. Mine was last month but was going to use it today. I was so busy working in our San Diego office training a new employee for most of the week that I had TONS to do when I got back to Carlsbad on Thursday. I was submersed in my job all of yesterday and had so much to do. I didn't feel comfortable taking all of today off so I went in for a half day. Lucky me!!! I LOVE my job and my co-workers and couldn't ask for a better boss.

So here I am at home, sitting here in front of the computer trying to think of all the things I need to do today. So--- I am going to focus on cleaning the house and getting some more stuff organized. There is always laundry to be done.

PJ is picking Makena up at school after he get's done meeting w/ friends. He is off early today to but I do best cleaning w/ no distractions so I've kicked him out so I can have a day all to myself! Wow- I am already feeling confused- what is that like? LOL!!!

This weekend I plan to be busy at home all night. Tomorrow morning I'm going to the gym to meet w/ my personal trainer at 7am!! Then at 9am I am meeting w/ a co-worker. She has commissioned me to do some photography for her entire family! There are 10 people! So it will be quite busy. Then I will be home to pick up PJ and Makena and we'll go shopping and go home for naps. After nap time Makena and I are meeting my good friend Julie and her son (Makena's classmate) Hayden. (From the photo above) We have passes to the Seaworld so we'll take the kids to Seaworld Nights. They have extra things, concerts etc... so it will be fun. Sunday as always is family day. PJ has a work related business trip to Dallas next week so I'm sure he'll be packing and getting prepared for that.

Well, this has been longer than anticipated. So- that's all for now. Have a wonderful weekend!

It's Sunday night, and I have so much to do. I have one of three loads of laundry in the washing machine. My goal would be to have all of them done before I go to bed.... we'll see. I tend to be ambitious but never seem to get all the laundry done on Sundays as I would prefer to. I have several packages to ship off tomorrow for customers and also friends that bought some of my beads from me. I got busy clearing out my stash and now it's time to buy some new stuff. Oh how the cycle never ends.

This past week has been interesting... well the past two weeks. As many of you know, Makena has been allergic to many things. When she was born she was allergic to my "Mommy's Milk" so we tried Nutramigen then settled w/ Neocate(for G-Tube babies). She was on Neocate until she was 2 yrs old. She was diagnosed allergic to Milk, Eggs, Soy, Peanuts and Apples. Long story short... she ended up growing out of the Milk at 2yrs, the Eggs at 3.5yrs and Apples somewhere around 18 months. Makena still has intolerance to Soy in concentrated forms (ie: Soy Sauce) so we try to avoid that. But peanuts... that's another story. She is HIGHLY allergic. We carry an Epi-Pen with us wherever we are 'just in case'.

Well Makena is old enough and ready to move into the Yellow Room (for 4 yr olds). With that her classroom needs to become Peanut Free. When this happened in the Red room there were no major objections. Everyone had been understanding and abiding due to the risks.

It was bound to happen, people had issues. Two parents in particular felt completely inconvienced by the 'no peanut rule'. I did some research and offered information for parents that they could get Sunbutter/Sunflower Butter instead. It tastes very similar to Peanut Butter and can be bought at the local Trader Joes. We still don't carry it at our house b/c we don't want Makena to get confused b/c it looks literally almost identical to peanut butter both in coloring and consistency. I found out on Friday these parents sent out their phone numbers and a note in all the parent's folders to find out their 'view point' of the Peanut Free rule. I feel very blessed that like most people I have received quite a bit of support from parents. It is an inconvience but most understand that it is to keep Makena safe AND alive. I just don't understand these moms. I guess it must be nice to live in a world where things revolve around you and you are more concerned with yourself rather than the safety of a child. Hmmm- ya know I'd rather not live in that world. I prefer to be caring and protective of children. I guess it just dumb-founds me. At the end of the day- it doesn't matter how many parents hop on the gravy train (although it doesn't appear that any are going to) the law protects Makena. Many people don't know but Peanut Allergies are considered a disability and the school is bound by law to protect Makena and the other parent's don't have a leg to stand on where that is involved. And as much as I want to call the parents and give them a piece of my mind, I won't... I intend on walking away with my head held high and not looking foolish as I think their little letters to the families have made them look.

Old Photos... Reminising

This was October 2003 - Makena as a little witch.

My Little Angel... almost 2 years ago! August 8th 2003
So I've been looking through some old photos... oh how time flies. I still can't believe that Makena is getting to be such a grown up little girl (if that makes sense LOL)

Just thought I'd share some old photos:

This first photo is of Makena and myself at Christmas last year up at my parent's house in Seattle. PJ was in Iraq so we took LOTS of photos to share.

These are Makena's toys... I came out to the family room one day and found that she took bandaids and took some of her toys hostage. It was hilarious... with a splash of disturbing. HAHA- but overall pretty funny.

This is Makena's first trip to the dentist! Look Ma- No Cavities!!!

Makena at

school.

Makena and Kylee- the best of friends at school!

Name this!!!

Okay- so I made this a bit ago, but haven't photographed it or put in on the website.... it's made of Flourite (green/clear/purple). And has some Bali beads and a focal Bali Bead.... The clasp on the bracelet is made of strong sturdy pewter.

The earrings are lever backs (sterling silver)

But what to name it???? Name ideas anyone??? There may be a reward for the best name.

Is It Friday Yet???
Okay, so it's 4 minutes till midnight and surely I should be asleep!! zzzzzzzzzzz-

Not so much. What is the deal... whenever PJ is in the field I have the worst time sleeping?

Makena fell asleep in the car (snoring) around 7:30/7:45.... so much for giving her a bath tonight. Surprisingly enough- she stayed asleep when I brought her in. YAY! It was great.

PJ will be home tomorrow. YAY! I better get to bed so I can get up early enough to pick up around here a little. Here's hoping that Makena got some good rest tonight.
