Sick
I don't get sick very often. Makena get's sick quite often. Luckily we haven't had any real issues for a couple months. I had to leave work abruptly on Wed because I didn't feel good. I'm still home, it's Friday. I'm bored and tired of feeling this way. I have so much I want to do at work- but am trying to rest here. Heading back to the dr's for more bloodwork today. I have no doubt things will get better.

Tuesday morning
Good morning! It's Tuesday morning already. YAYY! nothing is as nice as waking Makena up in the morning. She still stretches and yawns just like she did when she was a baby. :)

Are you from Glenn County Health Systems? Leave me a message- wondering who I know that works there & visits here often.

Anyways- have a great Tuesday- time to get ready for the day.

School Uniforms
In preparation of the switch to a new school - we had to go and buy uniforms! We've never gone 'school clothes' shopping for Makena before, because we've always just bought clothes throughout the year and she doesn't grow much. The painful price of a catholic school uniform is ... well just that, painful. Okay- so it's not that bad- but $42 for ONE piece of the uniform is crazy. Oh well. Makena is set for school and we only (kidding) had to spend 2.5 hours in the car driving back and forth to the uniform shop to
spend over an hour lost amoungst the plaids. It's done though- and she's ready for school. They start after Labor Day. One week left at her current school.

It's never good
It's Thursday.

It's never good when it 'feels' like Friday, but it's only Thursday.

Did I mention it's Thursday?! Hmph :(

Eating healthy
Okay, so I've been bad about updating my daily log for calories. I'm better off personally noting (mentally) what I've been doing/eating or rather .... not eating. I hate to be committed to things- including logging my food intake. And seriously though- those bite size snickers candies don't really count as calories anyways right? They're more like - little rewards for not pigging out for lunch... not pigging out for snack... not pigging out for dinner... LOL. Okay- but seriously- I've cut 'most' fast food out of my intake and most soda. Big weakness- Soda. Since I whitened my teeth- I've been better at only drinking clear soda: ie: sprite & 7Up. And if I do drink cola- it's always caffeine free. Luckily thats something that I don't have to deal w/ Coffee & Caffeine! Long story short... I'm down 9lbs. so that as Martha Stewart says 'It's a Good Thing'.- so--- with all the sense in the world- I'm going to reward myself and Makena with McDonalds!!! Haha- I'm so counter productive.

Chocolate milk?

I bought some low-sugar, low-calorie chocolate syrup so I could make chocolate milk for Makena today. I sat her down for dinner and poured some nice healthy organic whole milk for her- then whipped out the brown bottle of hershey's syrup. She asked me what I was doing and I said "I'm making chocolate milk for you". She gave me that I'm not convinced look that kids give you when they don't believe you. So, I poured some out- and then stirred. She took a taste, then looked at me and said "You're right- it is chocolate milk!".

"Where did you think chocolate milk came from?"

Shrugging her shoulders - she said (with the most serious face - mind you) "Brown cows"

Trying not to laugh because it was just so innocent- I said 'No Makena, chocolate milk doesn't come from brown cows."

"Well, what kind of milk do brown cows make then?"

Ahhh- the innocence of children! LOVE IT!
If you don't have kids - you're really missing out!

It's so- exciting!
It is so- exciting to be six!!!
We had an awesome weekend! I picked Makena up from my parent's house on Friday night. It is soooo- good to have her home. :)
Saturday we met up with one of my friends from high school and his daughter. We took the kids to the Children's Museum and to grab some food. After that Makena and I took off to the park on the way home. We had packed the kite when we left hoping we could find a great place to fly it. Sure enough it was windy and we had a blast running around a great park overlooking the Everett Marina area. The weather couldn't have been any better. We managed to get the kite up in the air after several short attempts where it was too close to the ground. We finally figured out to have a longer string and Makena was able to throw it up high enough to catch the breeze. It was great. Although it finally hit the ground (nose first) hard enough that the frame came through the nylon. We had been at it for a while, so decided to head home.

"Makena Photography"

Great timing as my brother (Uncle Marc) was heading up for some dinner and hanging out.

Today was a typical lazy Sunday. Naps all around for all of us- as it was much needed. PJ played soccer with a couple guys this afternoon while Makena and I worked in the yard and made her a microwave cake (they're so good but I resisted).

THEN- while getting ready for bed (after reading a couple chapters of Dick and Jane)- Makena was brushing her teeth. Her bottom center tooth has been wiggly for a while. A little brushing with the good 'ol Sonicare helped to loosen it a bit more. I've been prepping her lately that it 'might' bleed a little when it comes out. She's so dramatic I was worried that it might freak her out a little so we had been talking about kleenex and water with a little pressure to stop any bleeding BUT that it wouldn't hurt. I showed her how far her tooth would come forward and if she wanted to pull it she would just have to push it all the way forward and it would probably work.

Sure enough- it came out! She could hardly contain myself. I have no idea what the going rate is for the toothfairy- but her hopes are set high. She said she's hoping the toothfairy will bring her $100!! Someday she's gonna make some boy go broke lol. Ahhh- the joys of being six!

New Photos & Update
Not much is new... .Makena is still with my parents and enjoying Vacation Bible School. Her new school will start after Labor Day. I can't believe how quickly this summer has gone by! The house is quiet without her and lots is getting done. I cleaned out her room and clothes that no longer fit (she seems to be growing taller these days) and installed her closet doors. The tracks were always terrible, so I fixed them and now the doors will stay on. I have no idea what the kids did to them before we moved in. :( Anyways- I want to put up new curtains in her room and finish up her princess decor so we can be done in there.

Yesterday cleaned out the playroom. Many toys have 'found new homes' away from our home. :) Organized the craft/storage closet and installed the closet door there as well. I'd like to paint that room and get an idea of how we will decorate it so things start to look more completed.

Makena will be home on Friday (YAYY!) We're very excited. Here are some photos from this weekend.
